"Heeluminate" (Light-up Heels)

Heeluminate is a fun wearable technology design that aims to make a Heel that illuminates. My vision was to create a new and unique heel that uses the possibility of each step to shine and light up as a centerpiece of anyone’s outfit. The Heeluminate targets an audience of anyone, male or female, who loves heels and wants something that pushes the boundaries of normal everyday shoes.

The electronic components I have used to execute my heel consists of simple LED’s, conductive metal thread and a self-made pressure sensor. This shoe uses a pressure sensor for its information input. When activated this makes all the lights switch on for a certain period of time (e.g 10 seconds). When pressure is taken off through the model lifting her foot, the shoe takes that information and proceeds to switch the lights back off. When the pressure sensor is activated all the lights shine and each step turns into a fun, beautiful light show.

The wiring at the back of the heel is for the connection between the circuit and an Arduino lilypad.
