This project is based around the loneliness of today’s digital age and the mental health deuteriation that we can see consuming people all around us, including in ourselves.
Its purpose is to portray the negative thoughts that we can surround ourselves in (represented through the black exterior) and to show that with effort and action these thoughts can turn into positivity, purity and light (represented by the white and gold). The frame tries to imitate the ideals of someone in a dark place. The viewer opening the frame promotes people going through tough times to opening up and expressing.
The variance in word connotations between the black slabs and under the black slabs represents the change in the mindset of a person healing from mental illness.
The white canvas with the word “alone” changes when the negative word has been taken off to display a hidden message of “You’re not” before the "Alone" presenting a hopeful, optimistic "You're not alone" finale.
